K23HL179516: Identifying Strategies to Improve Allergen Mitigation Among Adults with Persistent Asthma to Decrease Disease Morbidity
A targeted clinical history and environmental allergy testing improve precision care for adults with asthma by guiding allergen mitigation strategies. However, allergy testing and counseling on allergen mitigation strategies are performed less often than recommended by the U.S. clinical guidelines, and the implementation of guideline-concordant mitigation strategies may be challenging or costly. We will identify strategies to improve adult asthma care by determining barriers and facilitators to allergy testing, evaluating the acceptability, appropriateness, feasibility, and costs of personalized allergen-specific mitigation strategies, and applying implementation mapping to create a menu to promote guideline-based allergen mitigation in adults with persistent asthma.
