Drs. Enrique Schisterman and Aimin Chen awarded R01 for research on low-level chemical exposures and pregnancy outcomes

R01ES038937: Environmental Chemical Mixtures and Adverse Pregnancy and Birth Outcomes from Combined North American Cohorts
This project will examine the impact of low-level environmental chemical exposures on adverse pregnancy outcomes, including hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes, preterm birth, and small-for-gestational-age birth, using combined data from three large North American cohorts comprising more than 7,000 participants. The research will place particular emphasis on chemicals present at concentrations below the limit of detection, including emerging and replacement chemicals, to better understand their potential health effects. The study team will estimate risks associated with individual chemicals, chemical mixtures, and exposures occurring during different windows of pregnancy.
