Dr. Trevor Penning named 2026 Chauncey D. Leake Distinguished Lecturer

Congratulations to Dr. Penning who was named the 2026 Chauncey D. Leake Distinguished Lecturer by the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).

Each year, the department’s faculty unanimously selects an internationally renowned scientist to deliver the Chauncey D. Leake Distinguished Lecture and share their research with the UTMB community. Established in 1993, the lectureship honors the legacy of Dr. Chauncey D. Leake (1896–1978), an influential pharmacologist, scholar, and leader whose impact on the field continues to be recognized worldwide.

As this year’s distinguished lecturer, Dr. Penning presented “An Adventure in Steroid Enzymology,” highlighting his pioneering contributions to pharmacology, toxicology, and environmental health sciences.
